Become a Luminary

We invite you to Become a Luminary as we finance our new home. With a minimum $500 donation we will put your name/honorarium in lights in the front lobby of the new ArtsCenter.
Durham artist Eliza Redmann of Folded Poetry has created an art installation for the new ArtsCenter which includes 200 unique naming opportunities for donors who invest at the $500+ level. Each piece will be engraved using a laser cutter with the donor’s name or name(s) of the person(s) they would like to honor. (Up to 20 characters). This art installation hangs in the front lobby and serves as a welcome to all patrons.

About Eliza Redmann

When a car accident, resulting in a traumatic brain injury, upended her health, personal life and career as an architect, Eliza reinvented herself as an artist creating functional art.

Her work is inspired by the persistent visual disturbances that she manages on a daily basis. She seeks to capture the structure of regular patterns and shapes while adding a layer of geometric information which the eye and brain cannot quite make sense of. This visual disturbance is designed to challenge viewers to perceive outside of what is normal or traditional.

By engaging Eliza, TAC is adhering to our commitment to DEAI. We are not only employing a person who struggles with a disability, we are also giving her a platform to educate us on what it is like to live with a disability. The visual disturbance that she creates in her work, is similar to the way in which she experiences everyday life. Her art creates a path towards understanding the challenges of living with a disability for our organization and its patrons.
